The Eat Offbeat Cookbook

As many of you know, the story of my cookbook, Good and Cheap really began when we launched a Kickstarter in the summer of 2014 to fund a print run. With the help of so many supportive strangers it was a huge success and has led to everything I have been so lucky to be a part of since, including being able to get over 200K copies of Good and Cheap into the hands of people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a cookbook. That’s one of so many reasons I’m proud to be supporting an amazing new Kickstarter project, The Eat Offbeat Cookbook!

Let me explain, Eat Offbeat is a refugee owned and operated catering company in NYC. They are all about empowering home chefs from refugee backgrounds to become successful professional chefs. The food is simply amazing, everything I have tried has been immaculate.

Please take a couple of minutes to watch their video here:

Today they launch a Kickstarter to create a cookbook featuring recipes from their chefs and their stories. It’s going to be so fantastic! When they approached me a month or so ago for advice I could not get involved fast enough. I’m so impressed by the mission and goals as well as their dedication. Not to mention they are ultra competent and organized (something I am a major sucker for). I’m just in love with them. I have no doubt they are going to be a huge success, but I also want as many people as possible to hear their story because it’s so uplifting and powerful and timely.

Oh, and since they partner with the International Rescue Fund (IRC) to help them find their amazing chefs, they are dedicating 10% of the proceeds from the book to the IRC. They continue to do amazing work in service of refugees so this is a great bonus!

I hope you’ll join me in supporting Eat Offbeat and spreading the word! Let’s show everyone that we value diversity, and that we love, welcome, and respect every member of our community.
