  • Hi, Leanne,
    Your book is great.
    I’m using it in a course I’m teaching a Food-themed semester to college students.
    I’d love to discuss with you how feasible it is to stay within the bounds of the $4.00/day in the city, especially in Lower Manhattan, where we are living.
    Let me know if you are doing a local event at some point this spring or would be willing to come as a guest speaker to my class.
    From a fellow Canadian and Home Cook,
    Naomi Guttman

  • Cynthia Cangre-Ron says:

    Hello, Leanne. I’m a case worker in a supportive housing program where most of my clients are elderly, previously homeless, and on a fixed income including SNAP/Food Stamps. We recently attended a training for AWARDS program but also happened to see this book being distributed at that site. I’m so glad this came to my hands! I’m totally sending this to our Nutritionist because this is GOLD! Thank you so much!

  • Teresa Neel says:

    Hi Leanne—- I just found out about you and I am crying, I am so touched by your message and your earnest and humble, humanitarian approach! I was a chemical dependency counselor for 20 years before a series of pretty bad head injuries left me disabled. I didn’t make a lot of money as a counselor, and I make less on disability. The shame and the fear can be so hard! I am so grateful that there really are caring and wonderful people like you out there! Thank you

  • `Kathleen Kettles says:

    Dear Leanne, It’s clear to me that you are more than a wonderful wife and Mom and friend to Pato, Brian and Matilda. The thought and care that went into this book comes from the goodness of you. I am so pleased to be a new friend. Love Kathy

  • Jana McCullough Shaver says:

    Hi! I love your book! Our food budget was out of control and your book inspired me to do some meal planning and reacquaint myself with the magic of cooking. It has made a big difference to our budget, but I am also having fun.
    Write another please!

  • Malcolm says:

    Dear Leanne;
    We’re a retired couple with grandson living here all cooking together. We constantly delight in the simplicity and creativity of your recipes. Certainly your book has opened eyes, hearts, and kitchen cupboards for cooks all over America for those willing to work from scratch. It has for us. Thanks for writing Good and Cheap. We love it.
